Patreon, a monetization platform, has removed conservative figures from its fundraising platform due to "hate speech." Patreon's guidelines are vague and interpretative, giving the company the ability to terminate business relationships with whom it disagrees. The company does not provide viewpoint protections for its employees. Patreon has pledged support to BLM and related causes and supports the Equality Act. The company opposed various state and local legislation intended to protect parental rights, girls’ sports, bathroom facilities, and gendered spaces. Patreon signed an amicus brief in opposition to former president Trump's immigration policy. The company co-signed a letter to law firms demanding an improvement in diversity in order to retain business with the company. For these reasons, Patreon receives a High Risk rating.
