Position Summary

1792 Exchange is seeking a strategic and data-driven Social Media Manager to lead our digital presence and significantly grow our audience. This role requires someone who understands that social media success is built on rigorous analytics, continuous testing, and strategic optimization—not just creative content. You’ll be responsible for developing and executing strategies that measurably increase our reach, engagement, and influence in the marketplace and in the marketplace of ideas.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Analytics

  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies with specific, measurable growth targets
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics including reach, engagement rates, follower growth, and other success indicators
  • Conduct ongoing A/B testing of content types, posting times, formats, and messaging to optimize performance
  • Use platform analytics tools and third-party software to identify trends, audience behavior patterns, and growth opportunities
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations and strategy adjustments
  • Provide regular performance reports to leadership with clear insights and recommendations

Content Creation & Management

  • Create compelling, on-brand content that drives engagement and supports organizational objectives
  • Develop platform-specific content strategies that leverage the unique strengths of LinkedIn and X
  • Manage content calendars and maintain consistent posting schedules optimized for each platform
  • Monitor trending topics and current events to create timely, relevant content that positions 1792 Exchange in important conversations
  • Collaborate with research and program staff to amplify research, reports, and organizational initiatives

Audience Growth & Engagement

  • Implement proven tactics to grow followers and expand reach across platforms
  • Actively engage with followers, influencers, and partner organizations to build community
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, thought leaders, and allies in our space
  • Monitor mentions, comments, and messages; respond appropriately and escalate when necessary
  • Develop strategies to convert social media engagement into newsletter subscribers and website traffic

Qualifications & Experience

Required Technical Expertise

  • 3+ years of professional experience managing social media for organizations, brands, or causes
  • Demonstrated track record of measurable audience growth and engagement increases
  • Deep proficiency with LinkedIn and X analytics dashboards and best practices
  • Experience with social media management and analytics tools
  • Strong understanding of platform algorithms and how to optimize content for maximum visibility
  • Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and make strategic recommendations based on analytics

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, political, or public policy communications
  • Familiarity with DEI/ESG issues, corporate accountability, or free enterprise advocacy
  • Experience with paid social media advertising and campaign management
  • Video editing and graphic design skills
