Summary:

Fossil Group scored a 90 out of 100 on the 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a political stakeholder group. By complying with the HRC’s controversial demands, the company increases the risk of dividing employees, alienating customers and harming shareholders. The company provides a benefits package for employees which covers transgender medical procedures for covered employees and dependents, including children. It also uses sex and gender ideology criteria in employee recruitment, vendor selection, marketing, and philanthropic support. Fossil Group forces employees to undergo multiple ideological trainings and uses its reputation, corporate funds, and political influence to support controversial sex and gender ideologies, organizations, and legislation. Fossil Group implemented bias training as part of its onboarding process for new employees and requires its leaders complete DE&I workshops. Its subsidiary Skagen has also released a Pride-themed merchandise brand and Fossil Group supports the Equality Act. Fossil Group’s CEO, Kosta, Kartsotis, signed the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion pledge, which includes a commitment to promote DEI through bias education training in the workplace. The company donated over $275,000 to the Trevor Project, which advocated for the provision of treatments such as pubertal blockers to youths under the age of 18 and other LGBTQ causes. Skagen, a Fossil Group brand, donated $25,000 to InterPride, an international Pride organizing and advocacy organization. Fossil Group partnered with Hetrick-Martin Institute, an LGBTQ organization, to celebrate Pride Month. For these reasons, Fossil Group receives a High Risk rating.
