Summary:
HubSpot canceled Daily Wire, kicking them off its platform due to Daily Wire's views. HubSpot has a policy prohibiting "hate speech" as well as similar policies related to DEI/ESG commitments. HubSpot funds abortion travel for employees, mandates "Anti-racism training" for employees, and celebrates LGBTQ identities and causes. Despite not having viewpoint protections for employees, HubSpot does not discriminate against faith-based charities in its giving, which is restricted to discounts for nonprofits and startups. For these reasons, HubSpot receives a High Risk rating.

HubSpot’s acceptable use policy prohibits content that “promotes, encourages, or facilitates: hate speech, violence, discrimination based on race, color, sexual orientation, marital status, gender or identity expression…” (1). HubSpot does not further define hate speech. HubSpot has also committed to connecting its DEI efforts with its ESG commitments (2). In April 2023, HubSpot allegedly kicked Daily Wire from its platform (3)(4).
Charitable giving (including employee matching programs) policies or practices discriminate against charitable organizations based on views or religious beliefs.
HubSpot’s charitable giving is based upon discounts on its products to eligible nonprofits and startups. It does not discriminate against faith-based charities, however, HubSpot does require organizations to abide by its Acceptable Use Policy to be eligible for the discount (1)(2). This Acceptable Use Policy states that, “HubSpot will not donate or discount products or services to any organization whose mission or activities promote opposition toward protected groups including on the basis of religion, race, disability, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or other characteristics that are associated with systemic discrimination or marginalization” (3).
Employment policies fail to protect against discrimination based on political affiliation/views and/or religion.
HubSpot does not protect employees from viewpoint discrimination (1).
Uses corporate reputation to support ideological causes and/or organizations hostile to freedom of expression.
HubSpot employees have participated in multiple LGBTQ Pride parades, and the company celebrates LGBTQ identities (1)(2)(3). This includes recognizing “Transgender Day of Visibility” by encouraging others to add their pronouns (4). HubSpot mandates “in-house, Anti-racism training” for its employees (5)(6). HubSpot encourages other companies to track and report ESG data (7).
Uses corporate funds to advance ideological causes, organizations, or policies hostile to freedom of expression.
Uses corporate political contributions for ideological, non-business purposes.
HubSpot does not have a PAC.
