Corprate Bias Ratings

Risk Level:

Rating - Danger
High Risk

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) implemented a policy through its Code of Ethics stating that "realtors must not use harassing speech, hate speech, epithets, or slurs based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity.” A Christian realtor was informed that he could not continue to speak publicly about his Christian views regarding LGBTQ+ issues according to the company's new Code of Ethics. These views would allegedly be considered hate speech, even if posted on one's own social media. The company does not protect its employees against viewpoint discrimination. However, it has not publicly terminated business relationships based on views or beliefs. The NRA aligned its policies to ensure realtors were upholding Fair Housing protections for the LGBTQ community and partnered with the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance. The company has donated to the Equality PAC and the Progressive Choices PAC. However, the NRA does not discriminate against religious organizations in its charitable giving. For these reasons, the National Association of Realtors receives a High Risk rating.
