ICYMI: Daniel Cameron in Wall Street Journal: Walmart Says Goodbye to DEI

SPRINGBORO, OH — Daniel Cameron penned an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal about Walmart’s recent decision to put employees, shareholders, and customers first. Cameron argues that this era of virtue signaling is over, and American corporations are entering a new age of good, sound business decisions. The piece ran on Thursday.

“For more than 20 years, the Human Rights Campaign, which describes itself as “the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization,” has used its Corporate Equality Index to advance its progressive agenda in corporate America. The index releases a survey each year that serves as a benchmarking tool to evaluate how well companies support woke issues. But there is good news for American companies thinking about turning the page on radical activism,” Cameron declared.

He continued: “In November, Walmart—the world’s biggest company, as measured by revenue—announced it will no longer return its survey for a score. This is a bold decision from a company that this summer highlighted its perfect index score on its “Mid-Year Belonging Report” and was even a Diamond sponsor of the 2024 Human Rights Campaign National Dinner.

 “The decision not to submit a survey is a smart business move. Walmart is creating value in the marketplace for its customers and shareholders while still serving as a great employer and good corporate citizen. The only difference is that it is walking back from partisan ideology.”
