Biography:

Dr. Martha E. Pollack has been on the Board of Directors for IBM since February 2019. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Universities and is a Trustee at Ithaka. Dr. Pollack has been the President of Cornell University since April 2017. Prior to this she served the University of Michigan as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs from May 2013 to January 2017; Vice Provost for Academic and Budgetary Affairs from 2010 to 2013; Dean of the School of Information from 2007 to 2010; and Associate Chair for Computer Science and Engineering from 2004 to 2007. While at the University of Michigan Dr. Pollack served as Editor in Chief at the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research from 2001 to 2005. She first joined the University of Michigan in 2000 as a Professor in the College of Engineering. Prior to joining the University of Michigan Dr. Pollack was on the Faculty of the University of Pittsburgh from 1991 to 2000 and worked for SRI International from 1985 to 1992. Dr. Pollack previously served as President for the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence from 2009 to 2019, on the Advisory Committee for the National Science Foundation, and on the Board of Directors for the Computing Research Association.
