Daniel F. Akerson
Daniel F. Akerson joined the Board of Directors at Lockheed Martin in February 2014. He is also serving on the Board of Directors for NOVONIX since October 2022. Previously he served as Vice Chairman of The Carlyle Group from March 2014 to December 2015. Prior to this, Mr. Akerson was Chairman of the Board of Directors for General Motors Company from January 2011 to January 2014 and the Chief Executive Officer from September 2010 to January 2014. He joined the Board of Directors for General Motors in July 2009. Previously, Mr. Akerson was a Managing Director of the Carlyle Group from July 2009 to August 2010, serving as the Head of Global Buyout. He was the Co-Head of U.S. Buyout from June 2003 to June 2009. From 1999 to 2003 Mr. Akerson was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of XO Communications. Prior to this, he was the Chairman of Nextel Communications Inc. from 1996 to 2001, and Chief Executive Officer from 1996 to July 1999. Mr. Akerson was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Instrument from 1993 to 1995. Before this he served at MCI Communications Corporation from 1983-1993. During his time at MCI Communications Corporation he was the Chief Operating Officer from 1992-1993 and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1987-1990. He served as a naval officer from 1970-1975. Mr. Akerson has previously served on the board of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation from 2015 until 2021, KLDiscovery Inc. from December 2019 until January 2020, CommScope Holding Company, Inc. from April 2019 until December 2020, and American Express from 1995 to 2012.
