Biography:

Dr. Darío Gil has been IBM’s Senior Vice President since January 2021 and Director of IBM Research since 2019. Prior to this he was Chief Operating Officer of IBM Research from August 2018 to January 2019; Vice President of AI and Quantum from August 2017 to January 2019; Vice President of Science and Solutions, IBM Research from January 2016 to August 2017; Vice President of Science and Technology, IBM Research from August 2015 to January 2016; Director of Symbiotic Cognitive Systems from January 2014 to March 2015; and Director of Industry Research Laboratories from June 2012 to January 2014. Dr. Gil began his career as a Research Staff Member at IBM from July 2003 to June 2012. He is involved with several non-profit organizations and serves on the boards of the National Science Foundation, the Center for Strategic International Studies, the Semiconductor Industry Association, the New York Academy of Sciences, the New York Hall of Science, and Research! America.
