"But I think the topic that really resonated with me was really reflecting on these past 15 months and where CEOs were really talking about how their position in the organizations have changed in those 15 months, where they felt it was no longer acceptable to sit on the sidelines when it comes to ESG issues because the employees were requiring it, the communities were requiring it. And CEOs really had to step up and take a position one way or the other. And it made a difference, I think. And so hearing it consistently discussed among that group of CEOs I thought was very impactful."

Interviewer: "So you say in the book here, it's so interesting, you talk about how companies and their leaders can't be silent on racial justice and then sustainability. And when we're silent, on initiatives that matter, people will fill in the gaps themselves, you say, and most likely negatively. So first, before we get into what you've been doing at Annaplan, why is this so important in today's times and in the talent marketplace?" Frank: "So, first, the talent marketplace is very competitive. And I think if you don't demonstrate your support for diversity and inclusion, then those great talents, those candidates will go somewhere else. They'll pass you by. And so that's one and I think going back to the conversation around having an organizational character and standing up and making sure that you take a stand within the communities, having a much more broader, diverse, inclusive environment is the right thing within your community, within your ecosystem."

"But they moved the game from Charlotte as a result of again, you know (bathroom bill), I think they took the right decision and they supported it as a leadership team. And in my mind, I think this was a great example of an organization demonstrating strong character."
