"So it's one of the issues that we should all care about. And as a financial services institution, it's a place where we can bring our core competencies and really make a difference to ensure racial and social justice in our society."

"And so what we've done is we've actually made diversity, equity and inclusion. And equity is probably the second big point. That is probably another session that we should have. But we've made it part of the leadership expectation and so on everybody's performance review, there are seven core leadership behaviors that all of us have to demonstrate and one of them is around managing inclusion, right?"

"The financial services industry has a really terrible history with communities of color in particular. And there's a trust gap that is very well earned in communities of color, with banks in particular. And it's because of the history, the history of redlining all the way back to the Freedmen's Bank, just example after example of where the institutions themselves helped to create and condone these disparities. And I think this reckoning has been the industry sort of understanding a new sense of responsibility to right some of those wrongs, but to just do the right thing. And I think this is an industry that's not known for its diversity, but I think you're starting to see that change."
