Biography:

Jose Barra became Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Décor for The Home Depot in April 2018. He has served on the Board for The Home Depot Foundation since January 2021 and for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since June 2014. Before that he was Senior Vice President of Merchandising Services for Home Depot from October 2017 to April 2018. Prior to his time at Home Depot, Mr. Barra served as the Executive Vice President and Division Chief Executive Officer at OPTUM for United Health Group from August 2015 to March 2017. He was a Board Member for the National Association of Chain Drugstores from April 2011 to August 2015 and for Dermstore.com from October 2013 to June 2014. He previously served at Target, as Executive Vice President of Merchandising from May 2014 to August 2015, Senior Vice President of Merchandising from February 2011 to May 2014, Vice-President Merchandise Manager from February 2010 to January 2011, Divisional Merchandise Manager from September 2008 to January 2010, Merchandise Planning Director from May 2007 to August 2008, Director of Enterprise Strategy and Market Research from November 2005 to March 2007, and as Strategy Group Manager from August 2004 to September 2005. Mr. Barra also worked at McKinsey & Company, as an Engagement Manager from March 2001 to June 2004 and as an Associate from May 2000 to February 2001. From January 1996 to March 2000, he was Managing Director for Proandi South America. Mr. Barra was a Board Member for Cinemark Ecuador Inc. from January 1997 to March 2000 and for Sheraton Citi Plaza Hotel from January 1998 to March 2000. From January 1993 to June 1994, Mr. Barra worked at the Embassy of Ecuador to the United Kingdom. He also worked as the director of Finance for the Maresa Corporation from July 1992 to December 1992. Mr. Barra began his career as a Corporate Credit Officer for Invesplan from June 1991 to June 1992.
