Lane Riggs

R. Lane Riggs is the Chief Executive Officer, President, and a Director at Valero Energy Corporation. He assumed these roles on July 1, 2023. Prior to that, Mr. Riggs served as President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing refining operations, engineering, projects and strategic sourcing organizations, commercial operations and renewables and logistics operations.

Throughout his career with Valero, which spans over 23 years, Mr. Riggs has held many leadership positions. These include Senior Vice President of Refining Operations, where he oversaw the operations of all Valero refineries, and Senior Vice President of Crude and Feedstock Supply and Trading, Engineering, Planning and Economics, Product Supply and Trading.

Before his tenure as CEO, he was appointed as President at Valero Energy Corporation on January 23, 2020. He also served as its Chief Operating Officer from January 1, 2018, until 2023.

Mr. Riggs joined Valero Energy in 1989 and has been instrumental in the company’s growth and success. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from West Texas A&M University.
