Ornella Barra

Ornella Barra became Chief Operating Officer for Walgreens Boots Alliance in 2014 and a Board Member for AmerisourceBergen in 2015. She also serves on the Boards for Efficient Consumer Response Europe, the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, and the Italian Pharmaceutical Distributor’s Association. Ms. Barra served as the Co-Chief Operating Officer for the Walgreens Boots Alliance from June 2016 to May 2021 and as President and Chief Executive of Global Wholesale and International Retail from February 2015 to June 2016, Prior to the Formation of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Ms. Barra worked at Boots Alliance, as Chief Executive of Wholesale and Brands from September 2013 to January 2015, and as Wholesale and Commercial Affairs Director and a Board Member of Alliance Boots. Prior to the merger between Boots Group and Alliance UniChem, Ms. Barra was Executive Director of Alliance UniChem and appointed to its Board in 1997 when Alliance merged with UniChem. Ms. Barra was a Board Member of Alliance Boots from June 2007 to February 2015. She is an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham School of Pharmacy.
