First Data, a subsidiary of Fiserv since 2019, vets vendors according to LGBTQ policies and does not provide its employees with protections against viewpoint discrimination, but has not publicly terminated business relationships based on views or beliefs. The company covers the cost of "medically necessary transition-related care" for its employees and their children and supports the Equality Act. After consulting only its LGBTQ and Black Leadership employee groups, Fiserv financially supported the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Black Lives Matter (BLM). For these reasons, First Data receives a "Medium Risk" rating.

However, its parent company Fiserv received a score of 100 on the Corporate Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign (1). Among other requirements, this means Fiserv vets suppliers according to LGBTQ policies.

Fiserv has a perfect score on the HRC’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index. This score indicates that First Data likely covers the cost of “medically necessary transition-related care” for its employees and their children (1)(2). First Data signed an open letter in support of the Equality Act (3). First Data’s parent company Fiserv also offers multiple classes to employees on topics such as diversity and inclusion (4). As a part of Fiserv’s “Forward Together” charitable giving campaign, the company only permitted the LGBTQ and Black Leadership employee resource groups to decide whom to support (5).

First Data has not used its corporate dollars to support ideological groups hostile to freedom of expression. Fiserv funded the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)and Black Lives Matter (1).
