Silgan has a written policy pledging to vet vendors for LGBTQ policies. Its Supplier Code of Conduct requires vendors to include sexual orientation in their nondiscrimination policy (1). However, the company has not publicly fired customers, suppliers, or vendors based on political views or religious beliefs.

Silgan does not discriminate against religious organizations in its charitable giving. From its Sustainability Report: “While many companies have begun to use their positions as employers to attempt to influence their employees on certain social and political issues, we value our team’s anonymity and respect their ability to decide for themselves” (1).

Silgan protects its employees against viewpoint discrimination. Its nondiscrimination policy includes “any other characteristic other than the candidate’s qualification to perform the task”, which would reasonably include viewpoint (1).

Silgan discloses its carbon emissions to the Carbon Disclosure Project, which partners with organizations to help them reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050 (1)(2). Otherwise, it has not supported ideological causes or policies (3)(4).

Silgan has not used corporate funds to advance ideological causes, organizations, or policies (1)(2).
