Alexander F. Stern

Alexander F. Stern has been Senior Vice President, Strategy and M&A at IBM since January 2023. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for Operation Warm, the Board of Advisors for the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and is Chairman of the Board of LUNGevity. Previously Mr. Stern served Lazard as President from June 2019 to December 2022; Chief Executive Officer, Financial Advisory from April 2015 to June 2019; Chief Operating Officer from November 2008 to June 2019; Global Head of Strategy from February 2006 to June 2019; and Managing Director, Telecommunications and Technology Group from September 1994 to February 2006. Prior to this, he was with Patricof & Co. Ventures from May 1996 to April 1997. He began his career at IBM in the Networking Systems Division from October 1989 to August 1992. He holds a B.S. from Duke University, a M.S.E. from University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from University of Pennsylvania.
