Carol Surface

Carol Surface became the Chief People Officer of Apple in February 2023. Before that, she served as the Executive Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer for Medtronic from September 2013 to March 2023. Prior to her time at Medtronic, Mrs. Surface was the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Best Buy from March 2010 to September 2013. Mrs. Surface began her career at PepsiCo, serving as its Chief Personnel Officer of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa from January 2009 to February 2010, in Human Resources from 2000 to 2010, as Chief Personnel Officer of PepsiCo International from January 2008 to January 2009, as Chief Personnel Officer of the Asia Region from October 2003 to December 2007, as Vice President of Human Resources for Chinese Beverages from January 2003 to October 2003, and as the Director of Organization & Management Development for Pepsi International from May 2000 to January 2003. Mrs. Surface currently serves as Vice Chair of the Human Resources Policy Association, as Co-Chair of the consulting group Gartner’s Chief Human Resources Officer Leadership Board, as a member of the Advisory Board of the University of South Carolina Center for Executive Succession, and as a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources. She holds a BS in Psychology from Castleton University and a Doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Central Michigan University.
