Elaine L. Chao
Elaine L. Chao became a member of the Board of Directors at Kroger in 2021. Ms. Chao has served on the Board of Directors at ChargePoint since 2021, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts since 2021, Ford’s Theatre Society since 2010, and has served on the Harvard School of Business Board of Dean’s Advisors since 2003. Ms. Chao has served in multiple position in withing the United States Government including Cabinet Appointment from President Donald Trump and President George W. Buch and was appointed as the Director of the Peace Corps and Chair of the Federal Maritime Commission under President George H. W. Bush and President Ronald Reagan. Ms. Chao previously served on the Board of Directors at Ingersoll Rand and Vulcan Materials Company from 2015 to 2017, News Corp from 2012 to 2017, Wells Fargo from 2011 to 2017, Protective Life from 2011 to 2015, Dole Food Company from 2009 to 2013, and Northwest Airline, the Clorox Company and HCA Healthcare from 1999 to 2001. From 1984 to 1986, Ms. Chao served as the Vice President of Syndications at Bank of America. Ms. Chao also served on the Board or directors at several organizations including the Hudson Institute from 2016 to 2017, New York Presbyterian Hospital from 2011 to 2017, Bloomberg Philanthropies from 2011t to 2015, Trust for the National Mall and a member of the Harvard Business School’s Global Advisory Board from 2010 to 2017, The National WWII Museum from 2010 to 2013, and a member of the Harvard School of Government Advisory Board from 2003 to 2017, and a Fellow at Heritage Foundation from 1996 to 2012. Ms. Chao served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of America from 1992 to1996.
