John Newman

John Newman has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Progress Rail, a Caterpillar subsidiary, since January 2023. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Newman served as the Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President, and Vice President of Progress Rail from 2014 to 2023 and served as Strategic Sales Directo from 2014 to 2015. From 2012 to 2014, Mr. Newman served as the Director of Sub-Sahara Africa rail subsidiaries at Caterpillar and Corporate Attorney in Caterpillars rail division from 2011to 2012. Before joining Caterpillar, Mr. Newman was an Attorney at Burr & Forman LLP from 2005 to 2011 and was Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Bulge Sports LLC from 2000 to 2002. Mr. Newman is a member of the Board of Directors at the Business Council of Alabama, Marshall County Economic Development Council, and the Arthritis Foundation Southeast.
