Biography:

Christopher Smith became Chief Government Affairs Officer for Ford Motor Company in 2022. He also serves as a Board Member for the Atlantic Council, for the Secretary of Energy, and as a Board Member for the Nuclear Innovation Alliance since May 2023. Prior to Ford, Mr. Smith served as Senior Vice President for Policy, Government, and Public Affairs for Cheniere Energy Incorporated from 2017 to 2022. During that time, he also served as an Advisory Board Fellow for the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. Mr. Smith was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Oil and Natural Gas from 2009 to 2013 and as the Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy for the U.S. Department of Energy from 2013 to January 2017. Before these roles, he served in a variety of roles at Chevron/Texaco from 1998 to 2009. From 1995 to 1996, Mr. Smith was an Associate overseeing Foreign Exchange Options Structuring at JPMorgan. He began his corporate career as an Associate overseeing Capital Markets at Citibank from 1994 to 1995. Mr. Smith was also a Task Force Engineer and Platoon Leader for the U.S. Army from 1991 to 1993.
