Gregory E. Abel

Gregory E. Abel joined the Board of Directors at Berkshire Hathaway as the Vice Chair of Non-insurance Operations in January 2018. In 2018, Mr. Abel was also appointed to the Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services London board of directors. Mr. Abel sits on several boards at AEGIS including AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. and is a Managing General at AEGIS Mutual Insurance Company. In 2015, Mr. Abel joined The Kraft Heinz Company Board of Directors. From 1999 to 2020, Mr. Abel served as a Director of HomeServices of America. From 1998 to 2018, Mr. Abel served as the President and then CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company, which acquired Mid-American Energy in 2008, but is a current member of the board. Mr. Abel previously served on the board at the Edison Electric Institute and the Nuclear Energy Insurance Limited. Mr. Abel is the current President of Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, and has previously served on the board at Mid-Iowa Council Boy Scouts of America, Drake University, Duke University, American Football Coaches Foundation, and Hockey Canada Foundation.
