Steven Croley
Steven Croley became the Chief Policy Officer and General Counsel for the Ford Motor Company in July 2021.Mr. Croley has served as a Board Member for the Energy Bar Association since August 2017, for the American Law Institute since August 2010, and for the American Bar Association since January 1993. Before that, he worked as a Partner at Latham & Watkins from March 2017 to July 2021. Mr. Croley was appointed by President Obama in May 2014 to serve as General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Energy, a position he held until December 2016. Prior to that, he was Deputy White House Counsel from June 2012 to May 2014, Senior Counsel to the President from July 2011 to June 2012, and Special Assistant to the President for Justice and Regulatory Policy from August 2010 to July 2011. From September 2006 to August 2010, Mr. Croley served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the state of Michigan. During that time, he was a Board Member for the Institute for Policy Integrity from January 2007 to August 2010 and for the Tobin Project from January 2008 to August 2010. Prior to that, Mr. Croley was a Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School from September 1993 to August 2010. During that time, Mr. Croley operated his own law practice from December 1999 to July 2006. From September 2003 to September 2005, Mr. Croley was a Board Member for the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He was a Research Consultant to the U.S. Department of Labor from 1994 to 1995, to the Administrative Conference of the U.S. from 1994 to 1995, and to the Michigan Law Revision Commission from 1996 to 1999. He began his career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals in September 1991, a position he held until September 1992.
