Biography:

Nuala O’Connor became Senior Vice President and Chief Counsel of Digital Citizenship of Walmart in October 2019. Prior to her time at Walmart, she was Vice President of Compliance and Customer Trust at Amazon from September 2012 to January 2014. Before that, Mrs. O’Connor was Chief Privacy Leader and Senior Counsel of Information Governance from April 2003 to September 2005. She previously served at DoubleClick, as Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer of Email & Emerging Technologies from January 2001 to September 2001 and as Deputy General Counsel of Privacy from January 2000 to January 2001. Mrs. O’Connor has worked extensively in law, as an Associate at Sidley Austin from May 1998 to January 2000, as a Partner at Hudson Cook LLP from January 1997 to May 1998, and, at the start of her career, as an Associate at Venable LLP from August 1995 to January 1997.
Mrs. O’Connor served in the US Department of Commerce from 2001 to 2003 and in the US Department of Homeland Security from 2003 to 2005. From January 2014 to October 2019, she was the President and CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology.
