Mr. Duato became Chairman of the Board of Directors in January 2023 subsequent to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer and a Director in January 2022. He joined the Company in 1989 with Janssen-Farmaceutica S.A. (Spain), a subsidiary, and held executive positions of increasing responsibility in all business sectors and across multiple geographies and functions. In 2009, he was named Company Group Chairman, Pharmaceuticals, and in 2011, he was named Worldwide Chairman, Pharmaceuticals. In 2016, Mr. Duato became a member of the Executive Committee and was named Executive Vice President, Worldwide Chairman, Pharmaceuticals. In July 2018, Mr. Duato was promoted to Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee where he provided strategic direction for the Company’s Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health sectors, supply chain, information technology, global services and the Health & Wellness groups. Mr. Duato is a dual citizen of Spain and the United States.
