Corprate Bias Ratings
In 2017, Volvo pulled advertising from a Fox News show over an opinion held by the host. The company vets vendors according to LGBTQ policies and does not protect its employees against viewpoint discrimination. Volvo is part of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media and has used its corporate image to promote same-sex couples and LGBTQ ideologies. The company expanded its parental leave benefits to LGBTQ couples and has sponsored Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) events. Volvo has lobbied for ideological purposes including the "For the People" act in 2019. For these reasons, Volvo receives a High Risk rating.

In 2017, Volvo pulled its advertising on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show in light of his opinion of the Roy Moore coverage (1)(2). Volvo is a member of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media, which aims to demonetize advertisements and suppress content that “vilifies” individuals based on sexual orientation and gender identity, discusses “debated social issues in a negative or partisan context” or spreads “hate speech” (3)(4)(5). Volvo has a written policy pledging to vet vendors for LGBTQ policies. Its Code of Conduct applies to all suppliers and includes a commitment to not discriminate on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation (5).

Volvo ran an ad in 2018 that promoted same-sex parents and in 2019 announced that it would be expanding its parental leave benefits within Europe, the Middle-East, and Africa. This announcement was shared featuring a gay couple and their female child (1)(2)(3). The company has indicated that family planning benefits are for all employees, including same-sex couples (4).
