Morgan Stanley

James P. Gorman is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley. He became Chairman in January 2012 and Chief Executive Officer in January 2010. Prior to this he served as Co-President and Co-Head of Corporate Strategy from December 2007 to January 2010 and was President and Chief Operating Officer of the Global Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley from February 2006 to December 2007. Before joining Morgan Stanley Mr. Gorman worked for Merrill Lynch from 1999 to 2006, holding a succession of executive positions during his tenure. Prior to this he was a Senior Partner at McKinsey and Co. He began his career at Phillips Fox and Masel (now DLA Piper), a law firm in Australia. Mr. Gorman currently is Chairman of the Board at Morgan Stanley; Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Columbia Business School; Vice Chair of The Kennedy Center Corporate Fund; and a Director of the Council on Foreign Relations. He previously served as a board member for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Partnership for New York City, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, the Institute of International Finance, and the Business Committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
